If you have lived in your home for some time, there is a good chance that is will be crying out for some minor renovations and improvements. While some jobs are undoubtedly significant, others are relatively small and will make your home a more pleasant environment to live. Also, if you make these improvements to your home, they will almost certainly add value to a higher sum than what you invested. So, if you want to improve your home as a place to live or sell, take a look at our tips.
1. Upgrade your bathroom/kitchen
Bathrooms and kitchens are two of the most frequently used rooms in your home. Over time, like with anything else, they will start to look tired and worn. Upgrading either is undoubtedly quite expensive but the modern versions are far superior to those that were available even a decade ago. Not only will it make your home look and feel nicer, but it will also have a significant effect on the value of your property if you are looking to sell. They are also one of the first things that buyers will inspect.

2. Paint cabinets
We appreciate that a new kitchen or bathroom is expensive and if it is beyond your means at the moment, you could consider giving all the cabinets a fresh coat of paint. Brilliant white gloss always looks clean as well as being easy to clean and will provide you with a kitchen or bathroom that has a more modern feel, even if you have only made a small change. Looking and feeling clean will make your home a happier environment and will increase its appeal if you are looking to sell.
3. A coat of paint
Over time your walls and ceilings will inevitably need a new coat of paint. Often you don’t notice how bad things had become until you apply the paint. Remember to sugar soak the walls first, especially in kitchens where grease is likely to have built up, making it hard to apply good coverage. Painting is a job that you can do yourself, or you can call in the professionals. It is inexpensive but will make a big difference.
4. Landscape the garden
Many houses in Thailand have large outdoor areas that go mostly untouched. However, if you were to landscape the garden, something that is relatively cheap, then your outdoor space will be a far more delightful place to sit and relax as well as making your house stand out from the rest. It is something that is a bonus if you are looking to sell and it could add a few hundred thousand baht onto the value of your property if it is finished nicely, and your garden is large enough.
5. Modernise your décor
Your décor will naturally become dated as time passes. Typically, some things will hold sentimental value so should be kept but light fittings, some furniture, pictures and the such like can be replaced. It can prove to be expensive, but the beauty with updating your décor is that you don’t need to do it all at once. Just have a plan about what the outcome should look like and replace things as and when you can. Remember, if you are looking to sell, many homes are sold fully furnished so try to make it appeal to a wide range of people.
