Top 7 beaches in and around Pattaya

Some of the beaches in Pattaya don’t always have the best reputation and in fairness, it is quite easy to see why. However, to say that this is the case across the board would be little unfair. Whilst some of the alternatives can be quite busy, especially in the high season, they do tend to be cleaner and you will experience fewer disruption from street vendors. Here are our 7 suggested beaches that you could visit if you feel like a change from Pattaya Beach or Jomtien Beach.

Ban Amphur Beach

Ban Amphur Beach is located to the south of Jomtien and is a beach that is lined by trees and remains largely unspoilt. There are condominiums there and some excellent restaurants but you don’t necessarily feel that this is a particular ‘tourist destination’. These beaches are popular with Thais which is probably some reflection on their quality.

Cozy Beach

Cozy Beach is situated in Pratamnak so a great option for those that may not have transport. The beach is clean and the water is far cleaner than at Pattaya Beach. This is a popular beach with tourists so as you can imagine, there are a number of street vendors who are active in the area. However, you shouldn’t let you put you off and it is conveniently located too.

Koh Larn Beaches

The island of Koh Larn is the large island that is visible from many parts of Pattaya. Here you will find a wide selection of beaches. Some offer water sports whilst others are more secluded so there really is something for everyone. The waters are clear and the sands are cleaner but it does get particularly busy during the high season.

Bang Saray Beach

Bang Saray Beach is located a little further to the south than Ban Amphur. This was once a quiet fishing village and although it is vastly different to its noisy neighbour, it has changed massively in the last decade. That being said, the beaches are excellent as too are the local restaurants nearby. This is a popular beach with families as there is plenty of natural shade.

Wongamat Beach

Wongamat Beach can be found at the northern end of Pattaya and is another beach that is popular with tourists from the nearby hotels. Again it is far cleaner than Pattaya Beach although you may wish to pick your spot as some places have experienced erosion in recent months. Along the beach you will find a wide selection of bars, vendors and restaurants.

Bang Saen Beach

Bang Saen Beach is located about 13km from Chonburi and is another beach popular with Thai Nationals. It is a long but narrow beach that is again largely unspoilt and is a great place to eat fresh seafood. If you feel like getting away from Pattaya for the day, this is a great spot to try.

Nag Ram Beach

Nag Ram Beach is a Naval Beach at Sattahip to the south of Pattaya. You are required to hand over your passport when you go but once there, you will be impressed by the quality of the beach and the sea. As this is effectively a private beach, you won’t be disturbed by vendors.
