What are the benefits of living in a house in Pattaya as opposed to a condo

Where you choose to live is largely down to personal preference with some people preferring to live in a condo whilst others prefer to live in a house. Obviously, they each have their own pros and cons and we looked at the benefits of condo living in a previous article. In this article, we will explore some of the benefits of living in a house in Pattaya. With both pieces of information to hand and if you are new to Pattaya or haven’t decided which would be better for you, hopefully, you will be able to make a better-informed choice.

Larger

Possibly the most obvious benefit is that on the whole, houses are larger and you tend to get more square metres for your money. In most case, although not all, condos ranging from studios to two bedroom units tend to be less than 100sqm in size with houses, even one bedroom ones being larger than this. Obviously, the larger the property the more space you will have and it will be less claustrophobic.

Often more privacy

Houses tend to give owners and tenants that little bit more privacy. Although you will have neighbours, most modern homes are surrounded by relatively high perimeter walls which naturally protect your privacy. If this is something that is important to you, then a house would certainly be the better option to a condo.

Greater freedom

If you own a house, the chances are that you will have greater freedom to do as you please (within reason). In a condo, the juristic committee may have rules and regulations restricting what you can and can’t do.

Although most of these rules are common sense and just showing others some courtesy, they can be frustrating if you believe that some rules are unreasonable.

Often quieter

One of the major problems with condos is noise. You have someone living directly next door to you as well as possibly above and below. Also, if you have enclosed corridors there can be problems with echo with people returning or leaving at all hours of the day and night. In a house, you tend to not feel like someone is imposing on your personal space to quite the same extent. In addition, villages are often away from tourist areas so there will be fewer disturbances from traffic such as tour coaches.

Opportunity to have a garden area and potentially a private swimming pool

Houses tend to have outdoor spaces of varying sizes. Even the smallest plots can be turned into a garden area where you can relax.

If you have a large plot of land, there is also the potential for having a private swimming pool which could increase the value of the property. A private pool is also a great feature and somewhere where you can relax and exercise.

Good for families

Few people will argue that a house isn’t better for bringing up children. Condos can have potentially dangerous balconies for children and are, as we mentioned initially, often considerably smaller. Children will have far more room to play in a more controlled environment which will be safer in many ways.

Pets Allowed

For many people, pets form an important part of the family. However, in most condos, animals such as cats and dogs are forbidden. If you buy a house anywhere in Pattaya, the chances are that these animals will be allowed with many landlords also allowing tenants to keep pets if they are properly managed. This is a huge bonus for many families who don’t want to be separate
