One of the many things that Thailand does well is shopping. In Pattaya, we have a great selection of boutique shops and markets but it is perhaps the main shopping malls that get the most business and arguably recognition. In this blog, we look at the main shopping malls in Pattaya as well as taking a quick look at the ones that are due to be coming to the city in the near future.
Central Festival
Central Festival first opened its doors in January 2009 and is still the largest beachfront shopping mall in Asia. The shops are open from 11am to 11pm every day and inside you will find shops selling everything from electronics to food and from clothing to homeware. Central Festival isn’t just a shopping mall, it is packed with restaurants, arcade games along with a bowling alley and a cinema. Shopping and entertainment go very much hand in hand.

Central Marina
Having been renovated in 2017, Central Marina (formerly Central Centre) has seen a remarkable increase in popularity. The décor, the shops and definitely the parking have improved dramatically. Located on Pattaya 2nd Road, Central Marina might not have to top brands of its larger sibling but it still has plenty to offer in terms of shops, restaurants and once again entertainment.
Royal Garden Plaza
Royal Garden Plaza is next to The Marriot Hotel on Pattaya 2nd Road with access also available from Beach Road. This shopping mall is not as busy as the previous two mentioned but still has a good selection of shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Royal Garden Plaza is home to Ripley’s “Believe or Not!” and is often described as the original ‘entertainment mall’ with almost as much entertainment provided as there is shops!
Mike’s Shopping Mall
Mike’s Shopping Mall is the oldest of the shopping malls in Pattaya and is full of smaller boutique shops rather than the larger brand names associated with the others. This is shopping mall aimed more at the tourist market with plenty of souvenirs and nik knacks available. They have a food court and the big chain fast food restaurants including KFC and McDonald’s. Entertainment wise, Mike’s is a little limited.
Coming Soon
In the near future, there will be some more shopping malls coming to Pattaya. The first, which is well on the way to be completed is Terminal 21 at the bottom of North Pattaya Road, near the Dolphin roundabout. This will be upmarket shopping more similar to Central Festival and will include a 5-star hotel.
East Pattaya has been lacking in shopping malls but now two are in the pipeline. The first to be completed will be the Robinson’s Department Store, a well known name throughout Asia and will be in the Pong area close to Mabprachan Lake. The second will be a huge Mega Complex, similar to Mega Bangna and this will be built on 300 rai of land. The sale has been completed and is thought to be in the close proximity to Siam Country Club.
