Top 7 Ways to Get Fit in Pattaya After the New Year

The festive period is a time when most of us skip our diets and ignore our normal routines. Not surprisingly, this usually leads to a few kilos being put on. The majority of us at least have the intention of getting in shape again in the New Year, and here in Pattaya, there are so many ways that you can do this without breaking the bank. Here are seven ideas that you may wish to consider to help you get in shape as we go through 2020.

1. Walk

Walking is undoubtedly one of the best ways that you can get fit with lots of excellent places that you can walk in the city such as long Pattaya or Jomtien beaches with the promenades now well-maintained and shaded. Around “Buddha Mountain” in Pratamnak there is also a walkway that is closed for traffic with even some free exercise equipment available should you wish to go that little bit further. In East Pattaya, you can walk around Mabprachan Lake with the new and improved pathway making this both safe and more comfortable.

2. Cycling

Depending on your level of fitness, there are lots of cycling routes in and around Pattaya. For those who want a relatively short ride, around Mabprachan Lake is a fantastic option that can be done in laps or with variations on some of the local roads. More advanced cyclists may enjoy some of the scenic routes to around Bang Chang or Sriracha although the latter does involve some quite heavy traffic. Once you have purchased a bike, this is one of the cheapest ways to stay fit.

3. Visit a Gym

Of course, joining a gym is one of the most obvious ways to keep healthy, but here in Pattaya, you don’t even need to have that outlay if you don’t want. There are several places that you can “train for free” with gym equipment using resistance rather than weights available such as on Pratamnak Hill close to the Royal Cliff hotel or on Jomtien Beach Road, near the night market.[PL1] [JN2]  There are also several smaller venues available around the city, so it is quite accessible for most people.

4. Water Sports

Thanks to the warm waters throughout the year and the shelter of the Gulf of Thailand, water sports are extremely popular in Pattaya, especially in the Na Jomtien area. Here you can try windsurfing, wakeboarding and much, much more. It may be one of the more expensive options, but it is a fantastic way to get in shape and see the area from a whole new perspective.

5. Yoga

There are lots of yoga classes around Pattaya although if you have some previous experience, all you need is a yoga mat and some suitable clothing. Yoga is fantastic for your core as well as being extremely relaxing. See your strength and flexibility increase in no time while also feeling more positive and relaxed.

6. Golf

If you are a golf fan, then Pattaya is the ideal venue for you. With so many championship-standard courses around, this is a superb way to get in shape, see the countryside and make some new friends. Like with water sports, it is a little more expensive but still considerably cheaper than many courses in the west or other parts of Asia.

7. Muay Thai

Boxing has become one of the most popular ways of keeping fit in the last decade with many people opting not to fight, just do the training. If you are in Thailand, why not get into the Thai version of the sport, Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing)? Several gyms around the city offer this, so you can quickly get in shape and learn to have greater discipline at the same time.
