From time to time we all miss the creature comforts from our home countries and we don’t just mean family and friends. Sometimes we miss certain types of food and other times we may miss the local beer. Luckily, you can find the solution very easily here in Pattaya, especially if you are English or have a fondness for English food and drink. Pattaya has a number of English pubs but we have tried to pick out 5 of the best.
The Sportsman
The old favourite with expats in Pattaya, The Sportsman is found on Soi 13, Pattaya Beach Road and has been a popular destination for what seems like an eternity. The Sportsman has an excellent selection of draft beers along with imported and local bottled beers. They have a comprehensive menu that includes all your favourite dishes and the Sunday lunch is something that has been a big hit for years. The staff are always friendly and polite and the atmosphere is always relaxed.
Hemingway’s
Formerly Shenanigans Jomtien, Hemingway’s is located in Jomtien Complex and undergone a major refurbishment following the change of name and ownership. Here you will find a wide selection of imported beers along with an extensive western menu with a very definite English feel. The food quality is excellent and the drinks prices are very reasonable with ample parking available for those that require it.

Retox
There are several Retox Bars around the city so it is hard to pick out just one. There is the Robin Hood at the Avenue, one on Soi Lengkee and ‘The Darkside’ version in East Pattaya. These are all franchise pubs so carry a very similar theme and this guarantees the quality of the food and drinks. The pubs are superb options for sports lovers with several TVs in each venue showing a full range of channels.

Punch & Judy
The Punch and Judy is a very traditional English style pub located on Thepprasit Soi 8. The first thing that stands out as you walk through the doors is the large, welcoming bar where you will often find patrons enjoying and drink and chatting amongst themselves and with the staff. They serve a wide range of English pub-style meals along with a superb Sunday lunch. Both the drinks and food prices are very reasonable and you are sure to find the venue very pleasant and friendly.
I-Rover
Another English themed bars that have undergone a name is the I-Rover, formerly the Irish Rover on LK Metro off Soi Buakhao. Although the bar caters for all nationalities it has a large English client base who go in for the fantastic food and excellently priced beer. The pub used to be owned by the now owners of Retox and still maintains some of the characteristics such as a heavy emphasis on sport – both shown live on the TVs and through the pool and darts teams that are very active. This helps the pub to gain an English ‘boozer’ theme.
