Pattaya has an abundance of both high-rise and low-rise condos and they certainly both have their advantages and disadvantages. This month we will investigate some of the advantages of living in low-rise buildings, Naturally, the choice often comes down to personal preference and not all of the point are valid for every condo. The objective is to paint a broad picture of what you should expect during your stay
Closer knit community
This is something of an assumption but on the whole, low-rise condos tend to have fewer residents than their high-rise cousins. As a result, this often means that you become more familiar with the people living there which in turn, creates a closer knit community. Your chances of bumping into neighbours either in the lifts or around the building are far higher due to the sheer size of the buildings. Most people appreciate a strong community spirit.
Fewer problems if lifts aren’t working
Lifts, they are hugely convenient they can also be the bane of your life when they are not working. Sadly, power cuts are still relatively frequent in Pattaya so would you really enjoy going up or down 40 flights of stairs to either get out of the building or back to your condo? At least in a low-rise building, this would be limited to eight!

Less time waiting for lifts
Not surprisingly lifts rear their head again. If ever you have been to a large high-rise condo or perhaps even an office tower block you will probably have spent an age waiting for the lifts. In a low-rise property, the lifts don’t have so far to travel and there will probably be fewer people using them so getting to and from your condo shouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.
Quieter
As you would imagine with fewer people, low-rise buildings tend to have less footfall meaning that you have a quieter experience. Of course, this will vary from building to building and who your neighbours are but this is usually the case in the vast majority of circumstances. This is particularly a problem if you are located near the lifts or on the ground floor.

Weather factors
The weather in Thailand definitely has its pros and cons and this is the case when you are living in a condo. The wind and driving rain will almost certainly be more noticeable the higher up that you are and this can lead to disturbed sleep. Admittedly, this is something that you would probably get used to but you may get bored with constantly moving things inside to prevent them from blowing away.
Better suited for those with mobility problems
Low-rise condos are a great option for those with mobility issues simply because there are often fewer steps both inside and outside the building. This is, of course, a huge factor if there are problems with the lifts or if there were to be an emergency when safety could become an issue.
