Naklua has long been regarded as one of the favourite places for German nationals to live or visit when they come to Pattaya so it comes as little surprise that there are lots of fantastic German eateries in the area. All of the restaurants are located on or just off the main Naklua Road so you won’t have any trouble finding them. Here are just 6 of our favourites in the area.
Klein Heidelberg is located on Naklua Soi 18 and has long been a favourite with all expats and tourists in the area. They open at 8am for breakfast and close late at night – usually once the last customer has left. They have an extensive menu which is primarily German although they do have a selection of other European and Thai dishes. The restaurant has a very airy feel with the front and side being open.
Not far from this restaurant is a well-appointed 2 bedrooms in Baan Plai Haad
Taverne Deutsche Restaurant
The Taverne is something of a combination of Heidelberg and Old Germany in that they have a large menu including sausage dishes and meat dishes. The menu isn’t as extensive as Heidelberg but still offers a great selection and tends to be slightly quieter which may appeal to some people and this is absolutely no detriment to the quality of the food. You will find this restaurant around 100 metres further up Naklua Road from Old Germany.
Situated on Naklua Road, close to the rear entrance to Best supermarket, German Corner is a particular favourite for those looking to enjoy a hearty breakfast. They have a number of different breakfasts available that are all excellent value. The rest of their menu is very good and the staff are attentive making the restaurant a great place to visit if you are in the area.
Old Germany is located on the corner of Naklua Road and Naklua Soi 22. The food is superb but they do concentrate more on traditional beef and pork dishes as opposed to a wide range of sausages which you can typically find in German restaurants. The service is of the highest order and again it is open on the front and sides.
Luxurious and spacious 2 bedroom for rent in Baan Rimpha
One of the best-known restaurants in Naklua from yesteryear moved from its original location which is now the Kiss restaurant some years ago. The new restaurant is on Naklua Soi 27 and is deep into the soi so don’t worry if you feel you have missed it – you probably haven’t! The menu is much smaller than before but the food is good and represents great value which is proven by the numbers who still visit.
Found on Naklua Soi 33, Hirschgarten is arguably the best of all the German restaurants on a street with a heavy German influence. They have a comprehensive menu which includes almost as many Thai dishes as you could imagine! The staff are very helpful and are happy to prepare food that isn’t even on the menu. It is another place that is good quality and is relatively cheap.
