Ex-pats while relishing new cultures and experiences can still hold sentimental nostalgia for their home countries and nowhere is this more keenly felt than in the grocery store. Here in Pattaya, you can find yourself entranced by food brands and confectionary that you haven’t seen for years. Such rare delights, previously only available through the appearance of a friend coming to visit, can now be found in a growing number of outlets catering to the ex-pat community. With the advent of the internet, many also offer online purchasing and home delivery services.
Siamburi’s
This store, at the top of Soi Khao Talo, East Pattaya has become a destination outlet for the British ex-pat community. With a wide range of frozen and tinned goods, it is well worth a visit if only for its vast array of sauces and pickles. Chocolates and desserts are stocked with seasonal favourites such as Easter eggs and mince pies for Christmas being extremely popular.
Britishop
A new kid on the block, Britishop has a very easy to use website where you can select from “Best Sellers”,” All Discounts” and “Newest” pages as well as the more general “Meats”, “Ready meals”, etc. They will deliver to your door, but if you prefer to pop in and scour the shelves personally, you can find them at Soi 16 Siam Country Club.
Villa Market
Slightly pricier but with a great selection of upmarket treats, Villa Market can be found right in the centre of Pattaya within The Avenue Complex on Pattaya 2nd Road and also their newest branch in Little Walk, on the Sukhumvit Road. Fruits and vegetables are beautifully displayed here, and the store is well worth visiting for that extra something special, especially if you’re hosting a dinner party.
