Pattaya is a great place to live if you are a golfer with more than 20 championship standard courses available within an hour’s drive of Central Pattaya. There are courses suitable for all budgets but some of the top courses are a real treat to play and this is something that everyone from novices to professionals appreciate. In a previous blog, we looked at the courses that were more in the budget range so more we will explore the ones at the top end or represent great value for money.
Siam Country Club, Old Course
The Old Course at Siam Country Club is the home of the LPGA Women’s Open so is not surprisingly regarded as one of the best courses in Thailand. The best way to play the courses is by teaming up with a local golf society or playing with an existing member as it isn’t possible for non-members to book a tee time.
Siam Country Club, Plantation
Plantation, is the second of the three courses at Siam Country Club and is another real treat to play. Not surprisingly it is kept in immaculate condition with impressive views back towards Pattaya. Similar to the Old Course, it is only possible to play with a member or a golf society.
The Plantation Estates
East Pattaya
The Plantation is also the name of a brand new luxury development of contemporary houses.
Laem Chabang
Laem Chabang is a fantastic course that is right up there with the top courses in Thailand. Arguably many people’s favourite due to quality and the perceived value for money, the course is maintained in excellent condition. With 27-holes available you are able to add a little a little variation with the 9-hole options being split into Mountain, Lake and Valley.
Burapha
Burapha is located very close to the course at Laem Chabang and with 36 holes available or two different courses to choose from. Again, this has been a course that has hosted some top tournaments over the years with players enjoying some magnificent views back across Pattaya and beyond.
Phoenix Gold
Phoenix Gold is a popular course largely due to its close proximity to Pattaya and representing value for money. Phoenix underwent a substantial facelift a few years ago that took a little time to mature but is now back to the standard that most golfers expect and demand. The clubhouse is one of the best around and this naturally enhances the experience.

Wangjuntra
Wangjuntra is another of the popular courses in the area and has an unusual design with 18 fairways and 36 greens that gives some added variation. The mature trees that line the course make for a pleasurable golfing experience. The course is challenging for golfers of all abilities and is relatively long in terms of yardage.
St Andrews
St Andrews is one of three courses that are located at Green Valley in Rayong and is probably regarded as the best of the three. You will find St. Andrews an excellent and well-maintained course that is very reasonably priced considering the quality of the course. All of the courses at Green Valley are popular with recreational golfers who can enjoy a few beers after in nearby Ban Chang.
